  • Notes
    • Sarah BERNSTEIN PEARSON's father Avraham was the brother of Max BERNSTEIN, husband of my great-aunt Lena GONIONDZKI.

The "Certified Copy (No B64004) of an Entry of Birth" given at the General Register Office, Somerset House, states Sarah BEAVER was born at hom e, 12 Tenter St., North Whitechapel, London, England. It also says Sar ah is the daughter of Abraham BEAVER, Journeyman Tailor, and Fanny COHEN. The entry for Sarah's sister Bertha (Betty) from the following year, h as identical information except Abraham's occupation was now "Master Tailor." The births were registered in the Whitechapel District and the Sub-Di strict of Goodmans Fields, County of London.

March 27, 1994: Lorne PEARSON believes Sarah's uncle Max BERNSTEIN ca me to New York with the name BOVRER or BEAVER before changing it to BERNSTEIN. Perhaps Max used the exact Polish version (BOVRER or similar) becau se he emigrated directly from Poland while Abraham modified the name to BEAVER when he emigrated to England.

QUESTION: I could not find Max and Lena's marriage certificate in New Yor k. Is it possible Max used BOVRER or BEAVER when he first arrived in New York?

Sarah has relatives in London; Lorne has address.
Sarah's brother Issie (Isadore) lives in Israel. See his file for details .

Lil MILLMAN said Jack and Sarah married in 1922; who has marriage certificate?
