  William Elbert Brown, 78, of Manquin, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 14, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Elva Hirsh Brown; three children, Rita Tippet and husband, Michael of North Carolina, William Scott Brown and wife, Tina of Georgia and Sherri Harris and husband, Shane of Mechanicsville; six grandchildren, Ricky and Andy Wicker, Chandler and Andrew Brown and Caleb and Megan Harris; one great-grandson, Devin Wicker; two sisters, Lillian Seagroves of North Carolina and Gladys Barnette of Manquin; one brother, Guy Brown of Delaware. Mr. Brown was retired from Overnite Transportation Company. The family will receive friends Saturday and Sunday, 4 to 9 p.m. at Emmanuel Tabernacle Assembly of God, 8026 Walnut Grove Road, Mechanicsville, Virginia, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2003. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park.
