  CECILE is the grandmother of LINDA LEHRER's husband ARTHUR NUSSBAUM. Dec. 1, 1999: Lorne PEARSON advised that Cecile told him that his grandpa rents, Archie Aaron PEARSON and Malka PEARSON were first cousins. I had previously recorded that. November 20, 2001: Met with Cecile, daughter Harrier and Lorne PEARSON. Cecile taped the conversation. ------------------------------------------- Cecile Edith Klein (Nee Efros) Peacefully, on Thursday, January 13, 2022. Cecile Edith Efros Klein was born in Montreal on 15 June 1907 to Louis Efros (1881- 1950) and Rebecca Pearson (1887- 1965). Cecile attended secretarial school and first worked for a lawyer's office and later for an early form of HR at RCA Victor. During the Great Depression, Cecile managed to find jobs for people at RCA Victor. Cecile was loved by her three children and their spouses, Harriet & Arnold Nussbaum, Arnold & Tina Klein, Louise and Jim Van Bibber; her grandchildren: Elaine Nussbaum & Joe Fineberg, Arthur Nussbaum & Linda Lehrer, Earl Nussbaum & Debbie Singer, Randy & Tomar Gross, Tamara & Craig Pow, Bram & Jill Klein, Dan & Noel Latt, and the great grandchildren, Sheri & Joe Velsher, Allan Fineberg, Marina Maschouchan & Eric Fineberg, Stephanie Nussbaum, Alanna Nussbaum, Shira & Josh Kaller, Briana & Reuben Goldberg, William Singer-Nusbaum, Jonah Gross, Oceana Gross, Damian Pow, Cullen Pow, Owen Pow, Kate Klein, Sophie Klein, Charlotte Klein (named after Cecile at Cecile's request), Hazel Latt, Bernie Latt; great great grandchildren: Tani, Emily, and Didi Kaller, Jeremy Velsher, Izzie Goldberg. When Cecile became engaged to Israeli-born Erwin Klein (1905- 1999), she introduced him to her great grandmother who lived to 103. She married Erwin at the then posh Windsor Hotel on 5 June 1932. While Erwin worked at Getz Pharmacy, Cecile did the Administration work for their pharmaceutical company, International Drug. During the Second World War, they manufactured and then delivered pharmaceuticals to Montreal hospitals and pharmacies in their rumble-seated car. Their company was bought out by Bayer in 1949. The couple loved to travel, especially with their children and grandchildren. Cecile still traveled into her centenarian years; at the age of 102 and 103, she went on two cruises, one to Alaska and one in Mexico. Cecile never stopped learning. Her passion was music, theatre, and lectures. The Mini-Meds at the Jewish General Hospital was her favorite lectures, but the weekly Tuesday Beth Ora Senior meetings and the bi-monthly B'nai Brith Women speakers were enjoyed also. The Cote St. Luc Drama Society performances were absolutely special and much appreciated. At the age of 111, Klein could still read the newspaper without glasses, and she did. At her date of death, she was a Canadian supercentenarian, the oldest validated living person in Canada. A private funeral service will take place. Shiva is strictly private.
