- JR says Frances/Fanny might be the one she, her sister Phyllis and cousin Karen found on Castle Garden site arriving on Silesia 2 July 1872.
JR notes that 1930 census has Germany birthplace crossed out and NY written over it. Other censuses and marriage cert. indicate otherwise. Some docs have Fannie or Fanny, some have Strauss or Straus, and she either became naturalized in 1880 or in that decade acc. to 1920 census, or was naturalized already by virtue of marriage to a naturalized citizen.
