      Bob was born in Bend to Clarence and Bianca Mannheimer. His early years were spent in Bend until the family moved to Portland where he attended Grant High School, moving his senior year and graduating from Corvallis High School. He graduated from Oregon State College, class of '39 and was an avid Beaver throughout his life. GO BEAVS! Upon graduation, he fulfilled his ROTC obligation by joining the U.S. Army, serving 5 1/2 years active duty in Alaska and the Philippines. He remained in the Army reserves, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. While in training at Fort Sill, Okla., he was introduced to the love of his life, Reba Wheeler. They were married after his discharge in 1945 and moved to Bend where they opened a women's apparel store. In 1960, he began his career as a sales representative for women's apparel, which brought the family to Portland in 1962. After his retirement he volunteered for SCORE for many years.
      Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Reba; and brother, Norman. He is survived by his children, Bianca Hart (Steve Libke), Robert (Penny) and Rebecca Mannheimer (Robin Irving). He will fondly be remembered as a very special "Papa" to his grandchildren, Ashley Lobdell, Rachel Smith, Eli Hart and Taylor Irving. He was "Papa Cane" to his great-grandchildren, Daisy Lobdell, and Oliver and Jonah Smith.
