He is survived by his beloved and loving wife, Michele Linen Hoitsma, his brother Kin, six children: Derrik, Jr. (Margie Pivar), Jim (Pam Callander), Lisa Hoitsma Favorini (Attilio), Tom (Kristie Ramirez), Erica and Gregory and grandchildren: Jasper, Sheyna, Cruz and Pilar. Pre-deceased by his parents Ralph K. and Muriel C. Hoitsma. He will be remembered fondly for his passion for business/causes, his love of beauty and his loyalty to his family, Amherst buddies, friends and colleagues.
